Today we live freely in our country. It took a lot of struggle and efforts to achieve freedom. This is because of our freedom fighters who’s sacrifices just can’t be expressed in simple words. India has a proud heritage of the noblest patriots, who sacrificed all their belongings and even gave up their lives for the cause of their motherland . Our freedom struggle was headed by the unique leader of leaders ,Mahatma Gandhi an embodiment of compassion and tolerance was a saga of victory for the Indians who shed blood for a great cause .We indeed, should not forget our freedom fighters who made innumerable sacrifices for our freedom. A poet has rightly and most fervently said:- ”I bow to thee my country, All earthly things above.” Earlier,in the First War of Independence, there emerged such leaders as Nana Phadnavis, Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi,Bahadur Shah Zafar and others.Later, there appeared a galaxy of other patriotic leaders like Nehru etc. Many of them had to spend the prime of their lives in British jails. There were many martyrs like Sardar Bhagat Singh,Sukhdev and Rajguru who kissed death smilingly to attain freedom for us.Men like Subhash Chandra Bose and Chandra Shekhar Azad also made great sacrifices. Once Lata Mangeshkar had sung a song which is really heart-touching:- ”Oh my countrymen! Let your eyes fill with tears, as you recall the sacrifices of India’s ,martyrs.” Indeed,the list of true patriots and freedom fighters is too long to be capable of being given .
