(Four friends are discussing seriously the changes in the

environment due to pollution and the possible measures that can stop the

further deterioration of the environment)

First Friend: Hey, have you noticed the winter season is

quite short and comes quite late?

Second Friend: Yes, it is true. My parents were discussing

the same phenomenon last night!

Third Friend: Do you know the reason behind this climatic

and seasonal change?

Second Friend: Undoubtedly, these changes are there because

of the environmental degradation due to colossal deforestation and burning of

fossil fuels! Global warming is tangible now! Earlier we just talked about it;

now we have started seeing its effects!

Fourth Friend: If this pollution is not controlled, the

future is going to be very grim. Life conditions will become unbearable! What

can be done to save our environment?

First Friend: I whole-heartedly agree with you. The only

solution to this very critical problem is people’s mass participation in saving

the environment. Mass forestation drive, stopping the use of fossil fuels

altogether, and using clean fuels such as solar energy, wind energy, hydrogen

can solve this problem.

Third Friend: Is it possible? I don’t see people will do

anything in this regard. It is they who are degrading it! Did you not see in

spite of knowing the criticality of the environment, they still exploded

thousands of tons of crackers?

Second friend: I agree with you. It is a campaign that we

need. We, the youth need to take up this issue and sensitize people. Not only

crackers, we need to launch a campaign to switch over to using green fuels.

First Friend: Do you think they will listen to us? They will

make fun of us!  

Second Friend: Certainly they will. We need to tell them there

are other alternative fuels available. The government must act strictly. There

should be a ban on fossil fuels. The government must create forest belt near

every city or town. Toxic emissions of industries must be strictly regularized.

This problem is controllable.

First Friend: But will people cooperate with the government?

Fourth Friend: Sure they will, who does not want to live?

Besides, we must leave a better planet for the coming generations. All that is

needed is the proper sensitization of people. 

First Friend: We will need many more volunteers and other people. It is worth trying. Let's start this save the environment campaign.
