Conversation of most of the students in your class have difficulty in viewing the blackboard due to poor i side. but they choose not to wear spectacles this lead to error in their written work and their notes
Answers
You can either use the following conversation or develop similar one using ideas from it:
Student A: Do you know many our classmates have been facing problems in the class these days?
Student B: Why what happened? Are you talking about the eyesight problem of some of the students?
Student A: Yes, you got it right. They have been really struggling to see the information from the white board. For example Suman has been really finding it very hard to study in the class because of this problem. She can’t see the words written on the board clearly. Nor can she see things clearly on the smart bard. She complains everything appears to be blurry.
Student B: How strange! She should start wearing spectacles immediately. Rather she must have started wearing them long ago!
Student A: I asked her why she has not been wearing the spectacles. Do you know what she replied?
Student B: I guess she feels wearing specs will somehow influence her looks. Am I right?
Student A: Exactly! She confided to me the very same thing! She feels other class students will make fun of her. I tried to reason with her, but then the bell was rung.
Student B: I think we must go to her house and talk to her and her parents; otherwise she will lose both the eyesight and her studies.
Student A: What can we do to help her?
Student B: There are many things we can do. First of all we must talk to her and tell her other alternatives. For example, she can wear contact lenses. No one will come to know she wears them, and her problem will be solved.
Student A: We can also tell about the LASIK laser treatment for her eyes. It is a very effective in improving vision.
Student A: Oh really! We must talk to our class teacher. She can also persuade to have her eyes treated or use alternative methods to improve her eyesight.
Student B: Thirdly we will also talk to her parents to take the matter of her poor vision seriously.
Student A: After resolving Sushma’s problem we will have a seminar organized in our class on eye-care. My uncle is an ophthalmologist; I will request him to give a talk on eye care.
Student A: Wow! I think it will solve the problem. Let’s get cracking then. Let’s go to Sushma first.
How you would promote awareness about better eye care
Eye care can be promoted among the students by putting eye care posters in the class. Some famous eye care doctor or ophthalmologist can be requested to give a seminar on eye care dos and don’ts. The parents can encourage their children to take care of their eyes by telling them how to watch TV and other screens from safe distance and in proper light. Proper intake of nutrients and vitamins can also prove quite helpful in eye care. If the eyesight is quite weak they must be encouraged to wear spectacles.
