Jane- So I was wondering, Kate, about why we go to school.

Kate- Well, we go to school so that we become educated and like useful for the country.

Jane- But whatever we learn at school is just so boring! Why do I have to learn about math and science when there's the internet!

Kate- We are the assets to the country, Jane. Education is very important. So do you know how to read?

Jane- Of course I know.

Kate- And do you know how to recognize alphabets? We even learn foreign languages too.

Jane- Absolutely. And we learn them at school.

Kate- Correct. Without school would you be able to read your books?

Jane- No. So you mean that education just helps us to read and learn things.

Kate- Education is more than just reading and writing. Let's say you're off to the shop. You need to learn addition in order to add things. And subtraction to subtract the money.

Jane- I have a calculator.

Kate- You can't carry calculators or phones. What if you don't have access to them?

Jane- I er... add in my head. And it's because of learning.

Kate- Exactly. You see, education is not a burden. We have to be educated and skilled to take up jobs and do many things in the future. And unfortunately, there are many who cannot afford school. Be thankful.

Jane- Thanks Kate. You really helped me understand something today.
