 \bold{REACTANTS}

▶1 , 2 dibromoethane

▶Hot concentrate alcoholic pottasim hydroxide.

 \bold{PRODUCT}

▶Ethyne

▶Water

▶Potassium bromide.

 \bold{EXPERIMENT}

Heat 1 , 2 dibromoethane with with alcoholic potassium hydroxide solution in a flask. And collect the product by downward displacement of water.

This happens by the process of dehydrohalogination.

Dehydr = removal of water

Dehalogenation = removal of halogen.

 \bold{EQUATION}

 {C_2H_2Br_2 + 2KOH \longrightarrow C_2H_2 + 2KBr + 2H_2O}
