18 gm of water is equal to 1 mole of it....
hence 36 gm of water is equal to 2 moles of it....

atomic mass of H = 1 u
atomic mass of O = 16 u
molecular mass of H2O = 1×2+16 = 18 u
molar mass of H2O = 18 g

no. of moles = given mass/molar mass
= 36/18
= 2 moles.
