Answer:

CH3C(=O)CH3 -----bleach, NaOH ----> CH3CO2^- + CHCl3 ----acidify---> CH3CO2H

CH3CO2H --------LiALH4/ether----> CH3CH2OH

CH3CH2OH -----H2SO4/heat----> CH2=CH2

CH2=CH2 +Br2 -------> BrCH2-CH2Br

BrCH2-CH2Br -----alcoholic KOH ----> acetylene

(CH_3COO)_2Ca  + Heat(Δ) ⇒ CH_3COCH_3 (acetone)

Explanation:

Step 1: Acetylene in presence of 40% of sulphuric acid and Hg^+ ion reacts with water to give acetaldehyde.

CHCH(acetylene)+ H_2O (40 % H_2SO_4)⇒ CH_3CHO(acetaldehyde)

Step 2:  After obtaining acetaldehyde its Oxidation is done to give acetic acid.

CH_3CHO + [O]CH_3COOH(acetic acid)

Step 3: Acetic acid is subjected to a calcium hydroxide solution that gives calcium acetate.

CH_3COOH + Ca(OH)_2(CH_3COO)_2Ca ( Calcium Acetate )

Step 4: Calcium acetate when subjected to heat produces acetone.

(CH_3COO)_2Ca  + Heat(Δ) ⇒ CH_3COCH_3 (acetone)
