Aniline to Phenol:

The process of diazotization is used to convert aniline to phenol.

Diazotization is a chemical reaction in which a primary amine is converted to a diazonium cation. Aniline is an amine and is converted to diazonium salt by using NaNO2 and HCl. This diazonium salt when treated with water at a high temperature gets converted to phenol.

Aniline is used as industrial chemical. It smells like a rotten fish. It is a flammable compound and burns with smoke.
