Convert anisole to salicylic acid

Answer:

By reacting Anisole that is Ph-OCH3 with hot HI, at controlled temperature, obtain phenol.

Then make phenol react with CCl4 / KOH to undergo Riemer tiemann reaction, and you'll get salicylic acid as the product, major will be ortho because of hydrogen bonding stabilisation.
