Answer:

STEP 1 》

Ethyl Alcohol is converted into Ethene by heating in presence of sulphuric acid which results in removal of water and known as dehydration.

STEP 2 》

Now Ethene is reacted with CCl4 which gives us

1,2-dichloroethane .

(reactions involved are shown in attachment)

NOTE :-)

In second step markownikoff's rule cannot be applied twice because it will result in formation of 1,1-dichloroethane.

Markonikove's Rule :-

According to this for an unsymmetrical alkene reacting with a unsymmerical group,

Negative part of the group goes to that carbon which has less number of hydrogen.
