Indirect/Reported Speech refers to a dialogue being told to a third person/reporting what happened to a third person.

Example: She said,"I love coffee." (Direct)

She said that she loved coffee. (Indirect/Reported)

In the above example, when writing in indirect/reported form, the sentence changes according to its tense. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'you' changes to 'I', 'yesterday' changes to 'the previous day', 'will' changes to 'would', 'can' changes to 'could' and many other words will have to be made.

(a) if he learnt anything at the NCC camp.

(b) that they learnt a lot.

(c) if he could teach him tent pitching.

(d) added that he first would have to register.

Hope it helps :)
