This problem in humans is solved by haploid cell division humans have 46 chromosomes so about half a number of chromosomes are passed from father and half from mother as gamete of humans show haploid division so when 23 chromosomes from father combines with 23 from mother they form 46 chromosomes hence chromosomes problem is solved

DNA doesn't get double because it comes half of the father's side and rest by mother
