Copper -64 emits B-particle. The half life is 12.8 hr. At the time you received a sample of this radioactive isotope it had a certain initial activity (disintegrations/min). To do the experiment you have in mind, you have calculated that activity must not go below 2% of the initial value. How much time do you have to complete your experiment?

Answer:

T =12.8hr = 768 mins

Calculated activity should not go beyond = 2%

Time left = 2/768

= 364 mins

Therefore we have 364 mins left,

364mins = 6.067 hrs
