copper does not dissolve in HCl while it dissolve in HNO 3?​

Answer:

Nitric acid reacts with copper because of the nitrate ion. It is the nitrate ion that causes the copper to dissolve, notthe H . There is no reaction betweencopper and HCl because neither H nor Cl is able to react with the metal.
