Speech on COVID-19
Explanation:
Dear friends, everyone knows about the deadly infectious disease Corona which is assaulting millions, this disease is very dangerous as we don’t know if we have the disease no later than 14 days. This virus has been keeping everyone apart for days as it is easily transmissed from one person to another. We know a lot about what is happening in the world, but what exactly is Corona virus? Is it just something that comes unwelcomed and leaves us grasping for life? No, it is more than that. And that’s why I will be telling everything you need to know of Corona.
What is CORONA?
The corona virus family causes illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), according to the WHO. They circulate in animals and some can be transmitted between animals and humans. Several corona viruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans.
The WHO declared the virus a pandemic on March 11 and said it was "deeply concerned by the alarming levels of spread and severity" of the outbreak.
The scientific name for the disease is called as COVID-19. This is the name given by the World Health Organization (WHO) on February 11, 2020 for the disease caused by the novel corona virus SARS-COV-2. It started in Wuhan, China in late 2019 and has since spread worldwide. COVID-19 is an acronym that stands for corona virus disease of 2019.
How did corona virus start and where did it come from? Was it really Wuhan’s animal market?
In the public mind, the origin story of corona virus seems well fixed: in late 2019 someone at the now world-famous Huanan seafood market in Wuhan was infected with a virus from an animal.
The rest is part of an awful history still in the making, with Covid-19 spreading from that first cluster in the capital of China’s Hubei province to a pandemic that has killed about TWO HUNDRED EIGHTY FIVE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED FOURTY FIVE people so far.
On February 7, Chinese researchers said the virus could have spread from an infected animal to humans through illegally trafficked pangolins, prized in Asia for food and medicine. But scientists also believe that it came from Bats.
But there is uncertainty about several aspects of the Covid-19 origin story that scientists are trying hard to unravel, including which species passed it to a human. They’re trying hard because knowing how a pandemic starts is a key to stopping the next one.
What are the Symptoms?
COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Most infected people will develop mild to moderate illness and recover without hospitalization.
Most common symptoms are
- Fever
- Dry cough
- Tiredness
Some Serious symptoms include
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Chest pain or pressure
- Loss of speech or movement
What are the ways you can use to protect yourselves and others from COVID-19
The WHO recommends basic hygiene such as regularly washing hands with soap and water.
The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).
We have to maintain "social distancing" - keeping at least 1.8 meters (six feet) between yourself and others - particularly if they are coughing and sneezing, and have to avoid touching your face, eyes and mouth with unwashed hands.
We should avoid unnecessary, unprotected contact with animals and be sure to thoroughly wash hands after contact with anyone.
At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments.
Now that you know all the facts about covid-19 you can share these with your family and help keep yourself and your family safe. Now at this critical stage all we can do to help is to stay home and to self isolate ourselves from the outside world
