Cortex is the ground tissue present below the epidermis. It surrounds the central cylinder and endodermis lines the outermost layer of the cylinder. So, the region between epidermis and stele is cortex. Pericycle is present between endodermis and vascular bundle.....

Answer:

As learnt

Stele -

The Stele is the whole central mass of vascular tissue (vascular cylinder) with or without pith surrounded by endodermis. Steler system is started from pteridophytes.

In order of evolution types of stele are: protostele (most primitive and simple), siphonostele. Solenostele, dictyostele, eustele and atactostele.

Cortex and its type -

Cortex lies in between epidermis and pericycle which is further divided into hypodermis, general cortex and endodermis-

* Hypodermis - It is collenchyma in dicot stem & sclerenchyma in monocot.

* General cortex - Parenchyma and it stores food.

* Endodermis (starch sheath) - Made up of parenchymatous barrel-shaped. Endodermal cells of roots are known as Casparian strips.

Stele =pericycle+vascular tissue +pith
