to prove -
cos {}^{2}(1 + tan {}^{2} ) = 1
substitute
1 + tan {}^{2}
with
sec {}^{2}
according to the identity....
and cos × sec = 1
therefore
cos { }^{2} \times sec {}^{2}
= 1
