cos 48° sin 18° - sin 48° cos 18° = ?

We know that:

sin (A - B) = sin A cos B - cos A sin B.

This can also be written as:

→ sin (A - B) = cos B sin A - sin B cos A

★ According to the question,

  • A = 18°
  • B = 48°

So, cos 48° sin 18° - sin 48° cos 18° becomes:

sin (A - B)

= sin (18 - 48)

= sin (-30)

= -sin 30

= -½

∴ cos 48° sin 18° - sin 48° cos 18° =
