Step-by-step explanation:

We know, cot theta =  cos theta/sin theta

=) cot∧2 theta = cos∧2 theta/sin∧2 theta.

and sin∧2 theta + cos∧2 theta = 1

=)sin∧2 theta = 1 - cos∧2 theta.

Now solving the question,

with taking L.H.S ;

=) cos∧2 theta/sin∧2 theta × (1 - cos^2 theta)

=) cos∧2 theta/sin∧2 theta × sin∧2 theta

=) cos∧2 theta. (here 1/sin∧2 theta and sin∧2 theta are  cancelled)

 hence proved.
