Given :-

cotA - tanA = 2cos²A - 1/sinA . cosA

As we know that,

cotA = cosA / sinA

cotA = cosA / sinAtanA = sinA / cosA

Taking L.H.S,

= cotA - tanA

= cosA/sinA - sinA/cosA

= cos²A - sin²A/ sinA . cosA

We also know that ,

sin²A = 1 - cos²A

= cos²A - ( 1 - cos²A) / sinA . cosA

= cos²A + cos²A - 1 / sinA . cosA

= 2cos²A - 1 / sinA . cosA

Hence, Proved.....

L.H.S.:

cot A - tan A

cos A / sin A - sin A / cos A

(cos²A - sin²A) / sinA cosA

(2cos²A-1) / sinA cosA

R.H.S.:

(2cos²A-1) / sinA cosA

Hence Proved
