1. Accumulation of variation: Due to any type of gene mutation or other reasons offspring may born with some variations. Though the new organism carries some of the inherited traits but variations are always there. These varieties in genotypic and phenotypic characters are accumulated and passed on from one generation to another. This accumulation or variations may give rise to a completely different organism than their ancestors resulting in a new species.

2. Physical barrier: It is the factor such as mountain, river that hinders the movement, interbreeding of individuals separated by it. It results in geographical isolation of two groups of species which later develop into two different species.

3. Genetic Drift: Genetic drift is the change in allele frequency in a population due to random selection. It is the gene pool of a small population occurred strictly by chance. It is a basic mechanism of evolution.

4. Natural selection: It is a basic mechanism of evolution in which nature selects the characteristics of an organism. If the behavior of a certain organism is approved by nature, the organism will survive or else will die, hence not selected by nature.

5. Migration is a cyclic behavior which includes regular, seasonal or annual movement of animals from one place to the other and back.
