To find,

No. of sqaures in the given above diagram i.e figure.

Main solution :

Firstly , let's ignore the figures formed by joining the diagnols of the smaller sqaures.

Now , no. of sqaures when the figures formed by diagnols are ignored = (3×2)+(2×1)=6+2 = 8

Now, coming to the figure formed by diagnols.

We can see in the right that 1 more sqaure is formed on the figure by those diagnols.

So, total no. of sqaures formed = 8+1 = 9

Note :Here in this question number of sqaures don't only consider the small sqaures inside the figure , but also several sqaures which are formed by grouping these basic ( small ) sqaures
