Dissent refers to the act of disagreeing about something that leads to debate with someone. The ultimate aim in an ideal scenario is to help one another to understand the position even if there is no consensus.⠀

Explanation:

A anti-arrack movement was set up in Andhra Pradesh , India, which was a result of awareness that was generated by the "National Literacy Mission (NLC)",  and mass literacy campaigns.⠀In a remote village, Dubaganta, sponsored by the NLC in Nellore and adopted by the others districts of Andhra Pradesh, it started as a spontaneous anti-alcoholic movement.

It is noted that the anti-arrack movement was not organized in the beginning. Majority of the foundational work had been done with the initiative of local initiative with  women protesting collectively in their villages against arrack. Women burnt and destroyed many arrack shop and many of the arrack shops were shut down In the very end, with the movement gathering rapid momentum, political parties too entered the protest.

The ruling state govt that was enjoying revenue from the sale of arrack initially opposed the movement, however for very long they were not able to stop this movement  and had to finally ban the arrack sale. The movement also eventually led to the declaration in India of total ban on liquor. Furthermore  it shows a women's approach to problems, particularly politics, which aligns the issues of women with larger questions of state and society.

Thus a form of dissent here helped to bring changes about in the society as well as across the nation
