Given:

Weight of blocks A and B together is same as block C

Blocks A, B & C together weigh 1.3 kg

Block A weighs 50 g i.e., 0.05 kg less than block B

To find:

The weight of the block B

Solution:

We have A and B together weigh same as C, so we can write the equation as,

A + B = C ......... (i)

Also, A, B & C together weigh 1.3 kg, so the equation will be,

A + B + C = 1.3 ...... (ii)

A weighs 0.05 kg less than B, so the equation will be,

A = B - 0.05

⇒ B - A = 0.05 ...... (iii)

Now,

Comparing eq. (i) & (ii), we get

C + C = 1.3

⇒ 2C = 1.3

⇒ C = \frac{1.3}{2}

C = 0.65 kgweight of block C

We will substitute C = 0.65 kg in eq. (i), we get

A + B = 0.65 ........ (iv)

We will add eq. (iii) & (iv), we get

B + A = 0.65

B - A = 0.05

---------------------

 2B = 0.70

-------------------

B = \frac{0.70}{2} = 0.35 kg

Thus, Block B weighs 0.35 kg or 350 gm.
