Given:

80 pineapples at 15.25 each, 3 pineapples got rotten, sold the rest at 20.00 each amount of gain?

To find:

What is the amount of gain?

Solution:

Finding the cost price of pineapple:

No. of pineapples = 80

The cost price of each pineapple = Rs. 15.25

∴ The cost price of 80 pineapples = Rs. 15.25 × 80 = Rs. 1220

Finding the selling price of pineapple:

No. of pineapples got rotten = 3

No. of remaining pineapples = 80 - 3 = 77

The selling price of each pineapple = Rs. 20.00

∴ The selling price of 77 pineapples = 77 × Rs. 20.00 = Rs. 1540

Finding the gain amount:

We know,

\boxed{\bold{Gain\:amount = S.P. - C.P.}}

Therefore,

The amount of gain is,

= [S.P. of 77 pineapples] - [C.P. of 80 pineapples]

= Rs. 1540 - Rs. 1220

= Rs. 320

Thus, the amount of gain is → Rs. 320.
