On the basis of the age-old proverb ‘If wishes were horses, beggars would ride’, if I was in a position to make a TV show, I would make a mega mega budget tv series about the Partition of India, specifically about the brutal partition of Punjab and the brutal partition of Bengal. The series would need to be funded by major Hollywood studios and would need to be filmed in the US or Canada, as Indian government is extremely touchy about partition related films and tv series and does not allow any factual realistic partition series to be filmed, for fear of offending some extremely ‘peace-fool’ people. The series screenplay would be no-holds-barred, brutally realistic and factual showing exactly how people of the different communities behaved at that time and the actual events.
