While reading he found it so funny that he thought of die laughing .

He generally thought that people shall appreciate him.

Then he told his servants to read the poem and then he started grinning at the first line.

Explanation:

The poem “The Height of the Ridiculous" has a funny mood throughout the poem written by Oliver Wendell. He wrote this poem when he was in a carefree mood. The poet himself calls his poem as very funny.

Though he is normally a level-headed person, he felt that people would appreciate his poem because it was very humorous. The poet started to read his poem and laughed so much that he thought he would die of laughter.

On a critical note, this seemed too much and to make it even worst, his servant on reading the poem became so delirious that his waistband split and five buttons gave way and he fell down and had to be taken care off by the poet himself for ten days.

The poet then vowed that he would not write another funny poem. The poem had humor and at the end, humor itself turned tragedy for the servant, whom the poet had to take care of.
