Forester has narrated the negative impacts of colonisation on the rulers and their subjects. He portrays the racial prejudice of the Englishmen against Indians through several characters like Fielding, Adela and Mrs Moore, Mrs Calendar etc. He mocks at the slavery attitude of Indians who abuse Englishmen behind their backs but still do not stand together for attaining freedom.

In ‘A Passage to India’ the author portrayed the bitter effect of colonialism in India.
It has been damaging both from the perspective of the coloniser as well as the colonised.
The English appeared to be unbending and rude towards the Indians.
Their attitude is of a racist and full of prejudice towards the native people.
Though there were few exceptions.
