After ploughing the soil, some big pieces of soil called crumbs remain in the soil which may cause difficulty in sowing seeds. Wooden or iron planks are used to crush the crumbs. Wooden or iron levellers are used to do levelling of the soil after crushing of the crumbs. Levelling helps in uniform distribution of the seeds in the field
