anisotropic means that properties of crystalline solids like refractive index thermal conductivity electrical conductivity etc. when calculated from different directions comes out to be different.

Crystalline solids are anisotropic in nature:

Anisotropic term stands for the properties of solids.

This term states that some of the common properties of crystalline solids such as "refractive index", electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity gives different value when they are calculated from different directions.

It mainly depends on the symmetry of the unit cell of the crystal.

On the contrary, isotropic properties always remain same in all direction, it does not matter from which direction we are calculating the values.
