Sun rays would hit the equator at 90° at all time for an entire year; for an entire decade; for an entire century…

So, Latin American and Sub-Saharan African people would see an overhead Sun till eternity.

Oops. Let me correct myself- till the time their community is wiped out! Yes!

If you see the physical map of the world, you'd find that the equatorial region receives maximum rainfall and is sparsely populated.

Rainforest + high temperature(Overhead sun) = Unrelenting rainfall.

In such a scenario, rain would soon erode the laterite soil and would render the fields infertile. Latin American and African people, who mostly depend on shifting cultivation, would be the first to die!

In the same way, every latitudinal belt would have its own set season all year round with a 12-hour day.

Cold regions like Europe, Russia, Canada would become even colder to the point of being uninhabitable. Likewise, Deserts would become hotter and hotter every day. Rain-rich areas would eventually be covered with forests. Crops like Wheat, Rice, Maize, Pulses would die eventually. Rivers and lakes which depend on mountains that melt snow would eventually dry up.

People in sub-tropical region would most likely adapt to these changes with ease(over a course of time) than the rest.

Equator would divide the world in two sides which would remain isolated from each other. If you're an American, you'd not be able to cross the equator and visit your friend in Wellington! The world would become a collection of small, scattered settlements in different latitudinal belts; each of them battling for survival or to adapt to the new changes.
