In the year 1905 the Lord George Curzon who is a governor general of British divided the Bengal regions into western and eastern sectors.

The main aim of this division is to improve the administrative control of the populous and huge province.

Curzon also established an extremely new province which is called Assam and Eastern Bengal that had its capital city at Dhaka.
