The revolt of 1857 was held by the soldiers of India surving in the British army. British had introduced a new rifle called the Enfield. A roumer spread that the greased wrapper used in the bullets was made by the fat of cows and pigs. The soldiers had to bite the greased wrapper used in the bullets. This as against the relegious sentementa of both Hindus and Muslims. This sparked as the first factor of the revolt. After the revolt was suppressed the administration of India s taken over by the England government.
