Explanation:

In physics D=b/theta is used to measure very large distances (such as distance between sun and earth, or earth and stars). It is also used to measure the diameter of a planet, stars or sun).

In the figure above 'o' is the point of observation.

Here 'theta' is mearured in arc seconds( one arc second= 1/3600 degrees. And baseline 'b' in meters. This method is known as parallax method.
