Correct Question:-

Draw a histogram for the following data:Weight (in kg)

40-44

45 - 49

50 - 54

55 - 59

60-64

65-69

Number of students

2 , 8 , 12 , 10 , 6 , 4

❏ Solution:-

• The given frequency distribution is discontinuous,

• To Convert it into continuous frequency distribution,

\therefore correction=\dfrac{\text{Lower limit of one class - Upper limit of previous class}}{2}

\therefore correction=\dfrac{45-44}{2}

\therefore correction=\dfrac{1}{2}

\therefore \boxed{\red{correction=0.5}}

Now, subtract 0.5 from all the lower limits and add 0.5 to all upper limits.

Continuous frequency distribution table:

\begin{tabular}{|c|c|c|}\cline{1-3} Clases before  & Classes after &  Frequency  \\\adjustment & adjustment &  \\ \cline{1-3} 40-44 & 39.5-44.5 & 2  \\45-49 & 44.5-49.5 & 8 \\50-54 & 49.5-54.5 & 12\\ 55-59 & 54.5-59.5 & 10 \\ 60-64 & 59.5-64.5 & 6\\ 65-69 & 64.5-69.5 & 4 \\    \cline{1-3}\end{tabular}

The Histogram (see in the fig)

\setlength{\unitlength}{1 cm}\begin{picture}(12,4)\thicklines\put(0.9,8.8){$Y$}\put(8.8,0.9){$X$}\put(0.5,0.5){$(0,0)$}\put(1,1){\circle*{0.1}}\put(1.2,1){\circle*{0.2}}\put(1.4,1){\circle*{0.2}}\put(1.6,1){\circle*{0.2}}\put(1.8,1){\circle*{0.2}}\put(1,1){\line(1,0){7.5}}\put(1,1){\line(0,1){7.5}}\put(8,0.9){\line(0,1){0.2}}\put(2,0.9){\line(0,1){0.2}}\put(3,0.9){\line(0,1){0.2}}\put(4,0.9){\line(0,1){0.2}}\put(5,0.9){\line(0,1){0.2}}\put(6,0.9){\line(0,1){0.2}}\put(7,0.9){\line(0,1){0.2}}\put(0.9,8){\line(1,0){0.2}}\put(0.9,2){\line(1,0){0.2}}\put(0.9,3){\line(1,0){0.2}}\put(0.9,4){\line(1,0){0.2}}\put(0.9,5){\line(1,0){0.2}}\put(0.9,6){\line(1,0){0.2}}\put(0.9,7){\line(1,0){0.2}}\put(1.7,0.5){$39.5$}\put(2.7,0.5){$44.5$}\put(3.7,0.5){$49.5$}\put(4.7,0.5){$54.5$}\put(5.7,0.5){$59.5$}\put(6.7,0.5){$64.5$}\put(7.7,0.5){$69.5$}\put(0.6,1.9){$2$}\put(0.6,2.9){$4$}\put(0.6,3.9){$6$}\put(0.6,4.9){$8$}\put(0.5,5.9){$10$}\put(0.5,6.9){$12$}\put(0.5,7.9){$14$}\put(2,1){\line(0,1){1}}\put(3,1){\line(0,1){4}}\put(4,1){\line(0,1){6}}\put(5,1){\line(0,1){6}}\put(6,1){\line(0,1){5}}\put(7,1){\line(0,1){3}}\put(8,1){\line(0,1){2}}\put(2,2){\line(1,0){1}}\put(3,5){\line(1,0){1}}\put(4,7){\line(1,0){1}}\put(5,6){\line(1,0){1}}\put(6,4){\line(1,0){1}}\put(7,3){\line(1,0){1}}\end{picture}

Here ,,,,

Along X axis = Weight in Kg.

Along Y axis = No. of Students.
