D is a point on base BC of a ΔABC such that 2BD=DC.Prove that : ar(ΔABD)=1/3 ar (ΔABC).

Step-by-step explanation:

DC/BD=2/1

therefore DC=2 and BD=1

∆ABC / ∆ABD=BC/BD

=BD+DC/BD

=1+2/1

=3/1
