Given,

The population of a town was 5000, If it a increased to 5500 in one year

We have to find the increased percentage

Formula,

Increased% = \frac{present population - previous population}{previous population}\times100

Here,

Present population = 5500

Previous population = 5000

Increased population =Present population -Previous population

= 5500-5000=500

Increased % =\frac{5500-5000}{5000}\times100

= \frac{500}{5000}\times100

= 10%

Therefore, the increased percentage is 10%.
