hey friend,

Dalit participation was limited in the Non coorporation movement because of the following reasons:
1.In the 1930, the weaker sections of the society formed a group and called themselves dalits or the oppressed.
2. They wanted equal treatment in the society but the Congress did not support them because of the fear of hurting the sentiments of the high class Hindu Orthodoxy
3. This lead to an unstable relation between Dalits and the congress
4. Gandhiji realised that for the national integration, untouchability had to be irradicated. So advocated satyagrahas and even cleaned toilets along with asking the rich households to give up untouchability.
5. But the dalits wanted political representation for they felt that only politics would lead to their social upliftment.
6.This is why Dalit participation in areas like Maharashtra, where their population was more, was limited in the non coorporation movement
