Dandi March was a non-violent act which aimed to produce salt from seawater to the villagers for their use. It was launched by Mahatma Gandhi on 12th March 1930 against the Salt Law of the British Government. The march was against the tax imposed by the British on the salt and the monopoly of Britishers on manufacture of salt. Salt was chosen because Gandhi wanted to bring the peasants and rural poor in the freedom struggle.
