Let the money Daniel has = $x
Manuel has = 600 - x
Daniel spent 2/5 of the money = 2x/5
Manuel spent $40 from his money = 600 - x - 40 = 560 - x
Both left with the same money.
560 - x =
5(560 - x) = 2x
2800 - 5x = 2x
2800 - 5x + 5x = 2x + 5x
2800 = 7x
Dividing both sides by 7, we get
400 = x
Daniel has $400
Manuel has = 600 - x
Daniel spent 2/5 of the money = 2x/5
