5 : 7

5x, 7x

(5x + 6)/(7x + 6) = 7/9

45x + 54 = 49x + 42

12 = 4x

x = 3

Therefore, the numbers are 15 and 21

Answer:

15 and 21.

Explanation:

If two numbers are in the ratio of 5:7 and if 6 is added to each of them, then their ratio becomes 7:9 . What is the number?

-Two numbers are in the ratio of 5:7

Let the rational between two numbers be x.

Hence the two numbers are 5x and 7x

if 6 is added to each of them, then their ratio becomes 7:9.

After addition of 6 in the number the number becomes 5x + 6 and 7x + 6. The ratio between the numbers

(5x + 6) / (7x + 6) = 7/ 9

Cross multiplication

7 (7x + 6) = 9 (5x + 6)

49x + 42 = 45x + 54

49x - 45x = 54 - 42

4x = 12

x = 3.

The rational is 3. Hence the numbers are

One number = 5x = 5 × 3 = 15

Other number = 7x = 7 × 3 = 21.

Thus, the two numbers are 15 and 21
