David and Josh are friends who are very interested in politics. David reads political coverage in magazines, newspapers, and online, and is very informed when discussing current issues with acquaintances. Josh is less knowledgeable, but has attended a few political rallies in support of candidates for local elections that he was invited to on social media. Whose political engagement has a greater effect on the political system?

David's political engagement has a greater effect on the political system due to that fact that the information he reads in magazines, newspapers, or online are balanced, i.e the data he reads from those sources are not in favour of any particular political party, which makes David very informed in deals of current issues. Whereas in Josh's case, he attend political rallies for a particular candidate, which in turn makes the public domain favourable. The rallies are only dedicated to a single political body and shows only their positive feedback and not their mistakes and negative side.
