Answer:

let the Joseph's age be x

and david is 3times old as Joseph then David's age be 3x

after three years their age will be Joseph's - x+3 , David's - 3x+3

by the condition in question

this equation is made

2(x+3) = 3x+3

2x +6= 3x +3

subtracting 3 from both sides

2x + 6 -3 = 3x +3-3

2x+3= 3x

subtracting 2x from both sides

2x -2x +3 = 3x -2x

3= x

= the present age of Joseph is x =3

and David's is 3x = 3×3=9
