DDT and most plastics are harmful to the environment.

DDT or Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane is an organochlorine, which was developed as a pesticide in 1874. Till recent years, it was in widespread use in agriculture and households until it was found to be extremely harmful to plants, animals and the environment as a whole.

Plastics are semi-synthetic organic compounds, most of them non-biodegradable and therefore harmful to the environment as well as to animals.
