In the play, we come across the fact that how all relationships, even those which are supposed to be founded on the basis of unconditional love like a parent-child relationship can turn out to be a farce. Children like Slaters and the Jordans question our belief in the bonds of affection, they are disrespectful of their father and only concerned with his money. Both the sisters considered their father to be a burden and were unemotional about his death, they take him lightly, the elder daughter pinches his clock, slippers and his bureau immediately after his death. Their was no grief in their hearts but they had to put on an outward show in terms of their mourning attire, in fact, everything for them is an ostentatious display of emotions because there is nothing inside them, no real feelings for their father.

Being a good citizen of the world, it becomes each and everyone's responsibility to help the senior citizens. Turning to old age is a cyclic change which everyone has to pass through. Hence, at the time when any old people requires any help, one should always help them. Generally, it is noticed that they do not get much attention which they require in that stage of their life. They are sent to the Old Age Homes when our elders turn old. This reduces their expectations and emotionally they break down because at this point of time they are left alone. The young generation often tends to forget that they too will fall for the same in their future.
