Dear Editor,
You use the word "shared" multiple times in terms like "shared vision" and "shared financing strategy." More than any other reason, I believe Dallas is deteriorating due to the word "share." In the editorial, it is recommended that businesses, foundations, charitable organizations, private citizens, suburban communities, county government, and City Hall work together to determine a "shared" vision. With all these stakeholders, how can we expect progress on any issue? How do you fix Dallas? Elect a mayor who is bold, exhibits strong leadership skills and has a tangible vision for the city. Then give that person the power to execute. No "sharing" between the City Council, city manager, and mayor. Change the city charter – give the mayor more power and, in turn, increased accountability. Pip Hicks, Dallas
What is the main point the letter writer is trying to make?
A. There is not enough government in the City of Dallas.
B. There should be less sharing of power and more direct leadership.
C. Dallas needs a new mayor.
D. There’s a better word to use other than “sharing.”
