Debate-it is beter to die in an open air than to live in a cage

Good morning everyone present here. I stand in front of you to express my views on It is better to die in an open air than to live in a cage. And I am going to speak in favour of it. Dante has rightly said, ‘The human race is in the best condition when it has the greatest degree of freedom.’ In the light of the preceding statement, I strongly feel that freedom is the first prerequisite for human beings to live optimally. Freedom means men must have the liberty to think, act, and do what they feel is right and then be accountable and responsible for the consequences of their own actions.
In the past such free economic, social, religious and political conditions did not exist. Common masses in many countries had to fight for this freedom. The world history is full of annals of the peoples’ struggle for freedom. The French Revolution, The Russian Revolution, The English Civil War, The American Civil War, and Indian Struggle for Freedom are examples of peoples’ struggle for freedom. Similar struggles were fought in almost each and every country of the world. The present progressive nations are the nations where people successfully fought and won freedom for themselves. Progress and success are possible only in the condition of freedom.
In India, our freedom fighters and patriotic leaders also had to make many sacrifices to win freedom from the British. They even laid their lives for the freedom of the future generations. They did so because without freedom life has no meaning. Life deprived of freedom is curse and hell.
Now the question arises are we utilizing the freedom won so arduously for us? Are we honouring the freedom that our sacrificing patriots won for us with the sacrifices of their own lives? Have we achieved the national objectives, they gave us the responsibilities to achieve?
The truth is bitter. We have gone astray. Our patriots knew the value of freedom. That’s why they won it by paying it with the cost of their own lives. They had felt the humiliation and insult of being slaves. They preferred dying to win it for us. However, we don’t realize its value, and are abusing and misusing it. Let’s wake up. Let’s nurture, cherish, and preserve our freedom. Otherwise, the threats of impending slavery will become real. We will have to wage another war against many types of slavery looming large on our nation.
