TELEVISION BOON OR BANE Television is a striking creation of science in the world of technology. Fifty years ago, almost no one had television set. Now there are more household with TV than ever. Everything has boons and banes so television also has many boons and banes. Television is a resource that can be used to educate and entertain people of different ages. Without any doubt, watching TV is a good way of getting informed. Watching news gives a good insight into what really is happening in the world. Television has also done a great job in the field of education. There are many quiz shows on television which increase the knowledge of students. Now a days children spend about 25 hours a week in front the television.Children study less and watch TV more. The typical man is sitting in front the television, and he has only eyes for the video screen. The bright colors, and the rapid movements showed on TV capture the man's attention. According to Moody this event happen for about four hours a day. Now, this is exactly where problems start. In my opinion, it is entirely wrong to sit in front of a television set all day just in order to pass the time. There are so many better ways to spend your day. I don't think anybody can sit in an armchair watching TV all without eventually losing focus; at some stage, you will inevitably end up just staring at the screen, devoid of any thoughts of your own. The problem with TV in this regard is that your role as a participant is a passive one. You can develop your own thoughts about what is going on, but you are not forced to do so.
