total money he decided to donate earlier=8percent of x=2x/25

It is said,that 2240 is 80 percent of the money he decided to donate earlier...

so,

80percent of 2x/25=80/100 ×2x/25=2240

8x/125=2240

x=280×125

x=35000

Hence his salry is Rs35000
