Orographic Rainfall➙ The rain produced when a mountain deflects moisture-laden wind upward.

❖ It is also known as Relief Rainfall.
❖ It occurs when moist air is forced to rise over a mountain range.
❖ It effects can change in atmospheric conditions caused by a change in elevation, primarily due to mountains.
❖ It is caused when masses of air pushed by wind are forced up the side of elevated land formations, such as large mountains.
❖ It is a rain, snow, or other precipitation produced when moist air is lifted as it moves over a mountain range.
❖ Snowfall or ainfall is the result of the Orographic.
❖ In India, Rainfall is Orographic in nature as heavy rain occurs on the windward slopes of the Western Ghats and scanty Rainfall on the leeward side.
